e-CULT Summer School aims to provide participants with specialized theoretical and technical knowledge on advanced techniques of Electron Microscopy (Scanning – SEM and Transmission – TEM) and their applications in the fields of Archaeology and Cultural Heritage Materials.

Participants will have the opportunity to attend lectures by highly acclaimed researchers from the fields of Archaeometry and Electron Microscopy (SEM: Dr. V. Kilikoglou, Prof. N. Zacharias, TEM: Dr. P.P. Das). Emphasis will be given in hands-on experience on both microscopic techniques, via multiple laboratory practical sessions. Real case studies of the rich Cultural Heritage of Messinia will be exploited to further improve the participants understanding of the potential of the application of Electron Microscopy in Cultural Heritage.

Academic Requirements

Graduates, postgraduates, PhD students and postdoc researchers with a background in one of the following scientific fields are welcome to apply:

  • Conservation Science
  • Material Science
  • Physics & Chemistry
  • Good knowledge of English is required (IELTS grade of 6.5 or above).

Submit the completed application form and all required supporting documents (photocopy of valid ID or passport page, photocopy of all university certificates, photocopy of English language certificate) by email to culttech@go.uop.gr. A non-refundable confirmation fee of 250€ must be paid until June 1. The balance of the program fee (500€) must be paid within ten (10) days from the date of notification of admission (upon payment, please, include your name and email address to receive acknowledgement and/or payment invoice).
