Presentation
The Department of Fire Protection at the Faculty of Security Engineering of the University of Žilina (https://fbi.uniza.sk/en/) provides excellent facilities for research, teaching and the creation of professional links in the field. Thanks to modern conditions for scientific work, the faculty has established itself in the field of new materials development, especially in connection with testing of materials for fire protection.
In recent years, international cooperation at the faculty has developed dynamically, in particular through participation in a number of EU-funded projects, including the 7th Framework Programme and other European projects. The faculty has extensive experience in participating in various research projects supported by grant schemes such as CEEPUS, Interreg, Erasmus+, VISEGRAD and others.
The Department of Fire Protection is actively involved in research in the field of fire protection, focusing on the testing of materials in a dedicated laboratory that contribute to improving fire safety, including in historical buildings. Several international projects are oriented towards the analysis of the fire resistance of materials and the protection of cultural heritage, investigating the specific needs for the protection of historical and architectural monuments. Research focuses on the development of new materials and technologies that enhance the safety of historic buildings, the implementation of innovative solutions for fire prevention and protection, and the development of advanced technologies that combine heritage protection with modern safety requirements.
