The TEHIC project (Towards a European Heritage Interpretation Curriculum) will conclude this spring with a major international conference hosted by the project coordinator, the University of Gothenburg and the Centre for Critical Heritage Studies, in collaboration with the Centre for Tourism. Taking place on 26–27 May 2025, this two-day event brings together leading experts and practitioners to reflect on the project’s outcomes and explore key developments shaping the future of heritage interpretation across Europe.

About the TEHIC project
TEHIC is an Erasmus+ initiative aimed at supporting the recognition and professionalisation of heritage interpretation as both a discipline and a career path, ultimately enhancing the employability of interpreters and the quality of interpretation across heritage sites.

Final Conference: Training and Professionalisation in Heritage Interpretation
Under the theme ‘Training and Professionalisation in Heritage Interpretation: Challenges and Future Directions’, the conference will feature keynote addresses and parallel sessions covering a range of forward-looking topics. These include digital innovation, cross-cultural and community-based approaches, youth participation, decolonising heritage practices, and sustainable tourism.
More than 30 international speakers will take part in a varied and stimulating programme designed to encourage reflection, facilitate exchange, and advance professional practice in heritage interpretation.
