Since 1998, the Biennale Internationale Design Saint-Étienne has been offering an experience of training and transformation of the public through exhibitions and event programming. The biennial showcases visions of design, combining technical culture, authorial productions and international perspectives. Over the years, this major design event has played a role for the international community in uncovering themes that reveal certain states of the world. This process has been bringing about social and economic transformations for more than twenty years.

At a time when Europe is laying the foundations of the New European Bauhaus, and in addition to the biennial’s programming, this week dedicated to research, education and training will give designers, schools, universities, companies and networks the opportunity to share their practices and to build together the foundations of a lifelong education and practice of design.
The aim is to reveal the role that design can play in enabling everyone to act and find their place in a Europe that is facing the challenges of the changes it is undergoing or creating.

More specifically, we will focus on the bridges and connections that mark out, throughout life, the stages and experiences of design training; it will be a question of crossing the academic and applied scientific, cultural and institutional worlds to determine what connects us or excludes us from the activities of a desirable, sustainable and inclusive social life.

The programme will cross the issues and practical cases of academic research, research within companies, higher education, education and vocational training. For registration and learn more about the event, please visit the website of Biennale Internationale Design Saint-Etienne.

The Biennale Internationale Design Saint-Etienne is an event under the French Presidency of the European Union.
