The 14th edition of the international conference Lasers in the Conservation of Artworks will be held between 10-13 September in Bucharest, Romania. For nearly 30 years, LACONA has brought together researchers, conservators, and restorers from both public institutions and private companies to discuss innovative approaches in non-invasive material characterization, conservation treatments, and monitoring based on photon sources and sensors. The inaugural LACONA conference was held in 1995 in Greece, driven by advancements in laser ablation applications for stone conservation. Since its inception, the LACONA conference series has evolved into a well-established tradition. LACONA XIV aims to strengthen and enrich this tradition by encouraging the submission of contributions on the most advanced photonic tools and methods, their rigorous validation, and exemplary applications in safeguarding cultural heritage.

Oral and poster presentations are expected on the following topics:

  • Morphological, mechanical, and thermal diagnostics
  • Compositional diagnostics
  • Deterioration phenomena
  • Conservation-restoration technologies and methods
  • Integrated approaches and best practices in photonic conservation-restoration
  • Novel photonic techniques or processes of interest in diagnostics, conservation-restoration, and monitoring of cultural heritage

Abstract submission deadline is June 17, 2024.
