The European Heritage Hub will host its sixth Heritage Dialogues, ‘Mediterranean Crossings: Exploring Shared Heritage, Identity, and Challenges’, on 11 February from 16:00 to 18:00 CET at the Marseille Citadel — Fort Saint-Nicolas (1 boulevard Charles Livon, 13007 Marseille).
This in-person event will focus on how to bolster international cultural relations between European and global partners, with a special emphasis on the Mediterranean and Middle East regions.
Marseille, a historic gateway between Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Middle East, is an ideal location for this conversation, as it serves as a crossroads of cultures, migration routes, trade networks, and artistic exchange.
Within this context, this edition of the Heritage Dialogues series will discuss the transformative role of cultural cooperation in fostering stability, mutual understanding, and sustainable development across the neighbouring Mediterranean and Middle East.
The discussion will serve as a preparatory conversation ahead of the forthcoming European Cultural Heritage Summit 2026 in Nicosia, Cyprus, which will build on the similar theme of heritage as the soul of Mare Nostrum.
Join this event to:
- Learn about the urgent threats facing heritage — such as conflict, climate change, and illicit trafficking — in the Mediterranean and Middle East.
- Hear from a wide range of experts on how they are addressing these pressing issues.
- Discover how heritage can serve as a powerful tool for strengthening international relations.
- Explore opportunities to build stronger synergies between the work of these organisations and European actors — from European institutions to civil society.
The Heritage Dialogues event is free-of-charge but registration is compulsory and space is limited. Register by 21 January 2026 to secure your place.
