Across Europe and beyond, burial sites and funerary landscapes represent some of the most sensitive and complex forms of cultural heritage. From archaeological excavation to digital documentation and ethical interpretation, professionals working in this field face unique challenges—ones that require innovative, well-informed solutions.

The EXCALIBUR Project, part of the European ECHOES EU initiative, is developing a new generation of open digital tools to support the study, preservation, and restoration of burial cultural heritage.

To ensure these tools truly respond to real-world needs, the project is inviting professionals to directly contribute to their design.

Who should participate?

The survey is open to:

  • Archaeologists
  • Anthropologists

A collaborative effort

EXCALIBUR is more than a research project—it is a collaborative effort to build tools with and for the cultural heritage community. Broad participation is key to ensuring that diverse perspectives, disciplines, and experiences are reflected in the final outcomes.

If you know colleagues or networks who work with burial heritage, please consider sharing the survey with them.

EXCALIBUR is a project funded by the European Commission under Grant Agreement n.101233712 and the Swiss Confederation. Find our more on the project website: https://excalibur-eccch.eu/
