In Slovenia, a new heritage science research entity was established in early 2026, the GreenHer Centre of Excellence in Green Heritage Science. As an autonomous part of the University of Ljubljana, it represents a broad partnership between six Slovenian institutions, the National Research Council of Italy and University College London.

The Centre will offer a range of possibilities to connect researchers and audiences in the wider region: it will employ 50 staff in the next 5 years, offer training courses, and develop a leading powerhouse of research into sustainable heritage management. The Centre will also offer a range of research infrastructures to collaborating institutions, from material science to archaeology, participatory research to digital.
